Upon arrival, authorities found 50-year-old David Bower still secured to an “experimental Apex ultralight trike glider” that had crashed into a garage roof, the sheriff’s office said.
Canning lived nearby in south Lakeland. FAA records show he had a certificate to fly gliders but no public documents confirm he had a sport pilot certificate to fly an ultralight.
