The Chihuahuan Desert (Spanish: Desierto de Chihuahua, Desierto Chihuahuense) is a desert ecoregion designation covering parts of northern Mexico and the southwestern United States.

The Chihuahuan desert is the largest desert in North America. Because of the area's high altitude, between 3,000 to 5,000 feet, winters and nights are cool, while summer days can reach temperatures over 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
