Qualifying for the 2026 Boston Marathon. The qualifying times below are based upon each athlete's age on the date of the 2026 Boston Marathon (April 20, 2026). Qualifying times are based on official submitted net time (also known as chip time).

The legendary Boston Marathon course starts in Hopkinton, MA and ends on Boylston Street in Boston, MA. See below for the course map and a full list of amenities along the course. No portion of the Boston Marathon course map may be reproduced.

Registration for the 129th Boston Marathon was open Monday, September 9 at 10:00 a.m. ET through Friday, September 13, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. ET. Registration took place entirely within the B.A.A.’s online platform, Athletes’ Village .

Monday, April 19, 1897: The Boston Marathon was originally called the American Marathon and was the final event of the B.A.A. Games. The first running of the Boston Marathon commenced at the site of Metcalf’s Mill in Ashland and finished at the Irvington Street Oval near Copley Square.
