Welcome to the homepage of the Brown Swiss Cattle Breeders' Association of the USA. BSCBA is engaged in promoting the breed and providing services to breeders of Brown Swiss cattle, including: registration & transfer, type classification, production testing, and parentage verification.

Brown Swiss withstand both hot and cold climates and thrive in a variety of terrains and management systems. Their longevity, dairy strength, and outstanding feet and legs make Brown Swiss cattle the obvious choice for modern dairy farms.
THE HISTORY OF BROWN SWISS
The Brown Swiss Cattle breed originated in the mountain tops of northeast Switzerland before historic records began. Bones found in the ruins of Swiss lake dwellers date back to around 4000 B.C., according to some historians, and resemble the skeleton of today's Brown Swiss cow.
THE BROWN SWISS CATTLE BREEDERS’ ASSOCIATION OF THE USA
The U.S. Brown Swiss Association, formed in 1880 to establish an official herdbook, registers about 10,000 animals per year and serves about 1800 combined adult and junior members.

WORLD BROWN SWISS CONFERENCE 2022
The 2022 World Brown Swiss Conference continued the third day with its conference meeting sessions. Starting with Martin Rust, Vice Director of Braunvieh Schweiz, the Brown Swiss Association of Switzerland.

In the Brown Swiss breed, it starts with the local canton show, then state shows and fairs on up to regional and national shows. The first national show was held over 100 years ago and they are still going strong today.

Few family farms can claim a history back to 1857 and 4th, 5th and 6th generations involved in the current farming operation. In 1963, a young man joined his father’s dairy operation and developed it into one of the nation’s highly respected family-owned/operated Brown Swiss herds.
In july 2025 will be its 25th edition and will be the bacground for the 2025 World Brown Swiss Conference. From July 13th to 23rd 2023, Agroexpo will host more than 600 exhibitors and will display more than 3000 bovine cattle plus horse, sheep, Buffalo and Goats exhibitions.

Norvic Colonel Elso was the first Swiss bull to enter the Badger State Coop in Shawano, Wisconsin, in 1953. Others followed into A.I., and Norvic bred many proven sires including Norvic Lilason’s Beautician and Norvic Telstar.
