  1. 摩艾石像是1250年至1500年间,由波利尼西亚东部复活节岛上的拉帕努伊人雕刻、多数是一体成形的石像;多半摩艾石像只有头,也有不少石像有肩膀、手臂、躯干以及下半身,这些石像的其他部分现在逐渐被挖掘出来。摩艾石像的意义至今仍然不明,有不少关于这些石像成因的推论。目前复活节岛共发现约900多尊摩艾石像,相近一半未完成的石像仍位于主要的拉诺拉拉库采石场,其他数百尊则被放置在岛屿的其他地区。当欧洲人首次访问该岛时,多数雕像仍伫立,之后多数摩艾石像则在18世纪末和19世纪初遭到推翻。摩艾石像的制作和搬运被认为是一项物理壮举,目前岛上最高的摩艾石像被称为Paro,近10米高,重达82吨。
