Dec 21, 2009 · I used 2in x 2in hollow steel tubing, with a 1/8 in wall thickness and plain carbon steel as the working material model. The stand is 108 inches long with four evenly spaced support beams on the front and the back. The support beams are 32 in long, giving a total stand height of 36 inches. The stand is 30 inches deep.

Jul 22, 2020 · The biggest downside for steel to me is weight. Steel is heavy. My steel stand is 10 years old and I bought it used. I just painted it, and it has been fine for a loong time, but if you are concerned, you can always powder coat it. The biggest plus to steel is that you can have a very wide span with a steel squares, beams, etc.
