In addition to a starter set of chalk pastels, there are very few supplies we suggest you have on hand. Black construction paper is used in almost all of the tutorials. Sometimes dark blue construction paper. Also, we used a small, dessert-sized paper plate to trace and make round planets. You likely have something similar at home you can use.

There are wonderful sights for us to see and paint in space! You can pick up your brightest orange pastel and give it a twist with your fingers in a circle, and, there you have the planet Jupiter, glowing in a darkened sky. Then an oval of palest blue pastel and you have the famous rings around this planet.

Follow your spiral with blue chalk pastel, drawing a thick line like in the photo above. Do the same with pink and purple chalk pastels. Blend these colors together with your fingers.
